Super Eagles’ forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has continued to stun doubters in Belgium as he scored his third goal in as many matches for Royal Excel Mouscron as they claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win away at his immediate past employers KAA Gent, reports.
Having struggled to impose himself at Gent the Nigerian rejoined Mouscron on loan for the rest of the season and has already become an instant hit scoring twice and assisting another in his first three games.
The Nigerian did, however, continue the trend when he put the visitors ahead two minutes to half time, rising highest to head home a superb cross from Manuel Benson to give Mouscron a 1-0 lead.
The visitors then doubled their lead six minutes after the break via the boots of Sidney Friede before Dylan Bronn scored from the spot on the hour mark to half the deficit, but the goal was not enough as Mouscron held on to all three points.
The win sees Mouscron move to 10th on the log with 29 points, while they also remain unbeaten since the arrival of Awoniyi last month.
