Nigeria’s sole representative in this season’s CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars of Makurdi are eyeing an away point at Wydad Athletic Club when both sides take to the pitch on Tuesday evening, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Pride of Benue go into the task on the backdrop of a 1-0 loss in the reverse fixture and must try to overcome defeat to maintain the challenge in the competition.
Wydad, which has Nigerian duo of Michael Babatunde and Okechukwu Gabriel, will be banking on their perfect home record against Nigerian clubs to get all three points having never lost to a Nigerian side in the CAF competition.
The Moroccan side defeated Julius Berger 2-1 in 1992 before toppling Stationery Stores 3-1 the following year to record 100% victories over Nigerian clubs at home.
A win or point for Lobi in Rabat will keep them still in contention to make it beyond the group stages, whilst a defeat for the NPFL side, coupled with victory for Sundowns away at ASEC could be detrimental to the chances of Lobi advancing to the next stage of the competition.
The match will be played at the Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat and kickoff is 8 pm Nigerian time.
