Rivers United midfielder, Peter Ubakanma has hailed his side’s near perfect display in their 1-1 draw away at newly promoted Bendel Insurance, describing it as a well-deserved point, reports.

The former MFM prodigy, who spoke after the game, noted that despite the hostile atmosphere in Benin his side fought well and ensured they maintained their push up the summit of the table.

“It was a well-deserved away point; we fought hard for the point and I’m so grateful we got it at the end of the day. We knew we could pick something in Benin and we went for it, that was exactly what we did.

“The match plan of the coach actually worked out and we played to instructions; we ensured that we did not leave Benin without a point,” he concluded.

Having now settled at the Port Harcourt-based club, the midfielder remains hopeful that the team can pick a continental ticket at the end of the season but admits it will be a tough challenge.

“I am gradually settling down quite fast in Rivers. Though it is not easy starting matches week in, week out at Rivers United, I give God the glory for such grace, and I want to continue in that manner,” he concluded.

Rivers United are currently 5th on the log of Group A with 10 points from seven games played so far.
