Ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later this year, the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation has assured the Flying Eagles quality preparations, reports.

This much was disclosed to by the General Secretary of the NFF, Dr Sanusi Muhammed who noted that the federation has given the team the best of preparations before the AFCON and will continue to do so ahead of the World Cup proper.

“We exposed the team to a series of matches before the AFCON in Niger. You will recall they went to the WAFU tournament and they played some good preparatory games there.

“On the Saudi Arabia friendly match, it wasn’t our making as we made all efforts to procure the friendly but unfortunately due to logistics on their part they cancelled the match,” Dr Sanusi revealed.

On their group draw, the NFF top gun noted that the team will not underrate their opponent despite getting a fair draw on paper.

“Football is played eleven vs eleven; if you think that a country is an underdog then you will be in for a shocker.

“It’s a favourable draw by paper but we won’t underrate any team and must respect our opponents and take the game as it comes,” Sanusi concluded.

The NFF is already working on a foreign training camp for the team and have assured the handlers of a top notch friendly ahead of the championship in Poland.

Nigeria is drawn in Group D alongside Qatar, Ukraine and USA. The team opens its campaign against Qatar on May 24.
