Super Eagles’ Henry Onyekuru set up the winning goal as Turkish champions Galatasaray recovered from two goals down to beat Bursaspor 3-2 away from home, reports.
Onyekuru went against fellow national teammate Abdullahi Shehu as both teams were desperately in search for points to boosts their positions on the table.
Two goals from Diafra Sakho on 15 minutes and Henri Saviet, three minutes to half time put the host in a commanding lead before Badou Ndiaye half the deficit for Galatasaray deep into first-half stoppage time as Bursaspor held a 2-1 lead going into the break.
Hoping to make the most of their opportunity after Istanbul Basaksehir dropped some points against Kayserispor, the visitors came out smoking in the second half and deservedly got their equaliser in the 56th minute when Mbaye Diagne made it 2-2 from the spot before Onyekuru set up Sofiane Feghouli to net the game’s winner with a super finish to complete Galatasaray’s turnaround.
The Nigerian was then withdrawn two minutes from time for Sinan Gumus after picking up a yellow card as Galatasaray closed the gap on Basaksehir to just six points after 26 round of matches.
Onyekuru and Abdullahi will now turn their attention to Nigeria’s upcoming games against Seychelles and Egypt as Nigeria begins preparations for this year’s AFCON in June.
