The 2019 Aiteo Cup has began to produce more shockers after NPFL heavyweights Heartland FC and FC Ifeanyi Ubah crashed out from their respective state qualifiers, AOIFootball.com reports.
2017 champions FC Ifeanyi Ubah crashed out in bizzare circumstances after they lost on penalties to Amateur side Udalla FC to ensure the state will have a new State FA Cup winner.
With regulation time ending 1-1, the penalties were disrupted when a man walked onto the pitch to take snatch the ball, but proceedings were later concluded as Udalla FC triumphed 4-2 on.
Same fate was recorded for Heartland FC of Owerri as they also failed to make it to the main round of the competition after crashing out at the hands of another Amateur side Jossy FC.
The both clubs will now turn their attention to the NPFL as they bid to make the playoffs and also ensure they secure survivals at the end of the season.
