Nigeria’s Stephen Odey was the hero for Swiss club FC Zürich as he scored the winning goal in their 1-0 triumph over visiting FC Sion at the Letzigrund, reports.
Without a win in their last six outings in all competitions, the pressure was on Head Coach Ludovic Magnin to turn out a good result as he put his hopes in the hands of the Nigerian to lead the line.
Despite dominating the first half in terms of chances created, the hosts failed to break the resolute defence of the visitors with both teams going into the break deadlocked.
With 20 minutes to go in the second half, Odey delivered the all-important goal when he reacted quickest to head home an Antonio Marchesano’s cross to give his side all three points.
The goal was Odey’s 9th in the league this season and his 15th in all competitions as he continued to impress in his first full season with the club.
