*Sends goalkeeper trainer to monitor Uzoho
Ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr has said he remains committed to ensuring the safest hands keeps in goal for the team, reports.
In a telephone chat with a member of the NFF Reforms Committee, Osasu Obayiuwana, the Franco-German said that Uzoho remains a part of his team and he has sent goalkeeping coach Enrico Pionetti to monitor his progress.
“I have sent my goalkeeper trainer, Enrico Pionetti to work on him at Anorthosis. At the moment it’s not a question of him being number one but of him being one of our three goalkeepers at the AFCON,” Rohr revealed.
Uzoho 20, has come under serious criticism following his howler against Seychelles in Asaba but redeemed himself as he helped the Dream Team VII reach the final qualifying round of the AFCON U-23 Championship.
But the worry however for most Super Eagles fans heading to the AFCON is the goalkeeper’s lack of playing time this season having been limited to just 10 appearances all season despite leaving Elche in January for Cyprus after dropping down the pecking order.
