Head Coach of the Taifa Stars of Tanzania, Emmanuel Amunike has urged fast-rising star Samuel Chukuweze to embrace the bigger challenge and represent Nigeria at next month’s Africa Cup of Nation in Egypt rather than play at the U-20 World Cup in Poland, AOIFootball.com reports.
Chukuweze has been faced with the dilemma of picking between the two competitions and Amunike, who coached the player at U-17 level however states that the final decisions still lies with the player.
“He is playing top-level football already. For me, I prefer him to play for the Super Eagles and give way for other players to play for the U-20.
“He has demonstrated that he can shine at the big stages after playing against teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid which speaks a lot about him,” Amunike said.
The former AFCON winner, however, urged the player to embrace the challenge and see it as a destiny from God.
“He has to embrace the challenges because it’s the will of God that he found himself in this situation and he has to honour it. If I will advise him, he should stick with the senior team and allow the U-20 to be, but the final decision still lies with him,” Amunike concluded.
