Nigerian international, Taiwo Awoniyi ended his season in style as he scored twice in Royal Excel Mouscron’s 4-2 loss at home to Waasland Beveren, AOIFootball.com reports.
With his loan deal set to expire next month, the 21-year-old graced the Stade Le Canonnier pitch for the last time as he chased a first-ever career league double figures of goals.
The Liverpool loanee put the hosts ahead four minutes after the half-hour mark but the lead lasted just four minutes as Beni Badibanga equalized with both teams going into the break level at 1-1.
Danzel Jubitana then put Beveren 2-1 up on 67 minutes before Awonyi equalized four minutes later with a sumptuous strike, hitting the ball fiercely with his right foot just on the edged of the box to net his 11th league goal since joining the club in January.
Further goals from Francesco Forte 76 minute and Nana Okpotu Ampomah however saw Mouscron suffer a disappointing 4-2 loss to end the season on a losing note.
Awoniyi will now turn his attention to the summer as he hopes to break into the Liverpool squad ahead of the 2019/2020 season or seek a permanent move away from the club having been loaned out since joining the club in the summer of 2015.
