Super Eagles forward, Samuel Kalu returned to action for the first time in two months after fully recovering from an injury that sidelined him since March, reports.

Named in Nigeria’s provisional 25-man squad for next month’s AFCON in Egypt, the former KAA Gent of Belgium forward was named among the substitutes as Bordeaux played host to Stade de Reims in their final home game of the season.

With the host 1-0 down from the first half, the dazzling winger was introduced just after the hour mark for Françious Kamano but the visitors held their ground to claim a hard fought 1-0 win.

His return will come as a cheering news for Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr who wants to have a fully fit squad when the team begins camping in Asaba on June 2 as they intensify preparations for the biggest Africa football fiesta in Egypt.

The 21-year-old will however need to negotiate one more league game next Friday away at Caen before flying to Nigeria to meet up with the team.
