Super Eagles Captain, Mikel John Obi is one of several early arrivals to the team’s camp in Asaba on Sunday afternoon as they begin preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, reports.


Also in camp as at 4:30pm Nigerian time, were defenders Leon Balogun, Jamilu Collins Chidozie Awaziem and Semi Ajayi. Others are the John Ogu, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Kalu and Moses Simon.


Though the number is expected to swell before dinner time on Sunday as the likes of Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Henry Onyekuru and Francis Uzoho who are already in the country would jet into Asaba soon.


Recently married midfielder Wilfred Ndidi would have to cut short his honeymoon too as he aims to take an impressive European season into the Nations Cup with Nigeria.


A total of 25 players were called up by Coach Gernot Rohr with five other players placed on standby should the need arise during the course of the preparations.


The Super Eagles will play a tune-up game against Zimbabwe in Asaba before Rohr names his final 23-man squad to the tournament an then the squad will embark on final camping in Ismaily, Egypt on the 9th of June.
