Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr has given hints prior to his final 23-man squad to make the trip to Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations, understands.

Rohr will have to eliminate two names from his provisional list to make the final 23-man squad, with the Franco-German revealing during a press conference in Asaba before their preparatory friendly against Zimbabwe, that he will have to drop one striker and a midfielder.

“We have a lot of strikers, which is good. Other teams are searching for center-forwards and we have three of them, one of them has to go. I could drop one striker and one midfielder” Rohr revealed

He further admitted that it would be a very difficult task to choose the final 23 because all the players in the provisional list are in top shape.

The former Nantes manager added that he hopes to make his final judgment using this week’s training sessions in Asaba, the conditions of the players during the qualifiers and with their various clubs then finally putting the friendly against Zimbabwe on Saturday in consideration.

Nigeria will face Burundi in their opening fixture in the AFCON before battling Guinea and Madagascar for Group B supremacy.
