Europa League champions, Chelsea have turned down an opening bid of €2.5 million from Spanish LaLiga side Leganes for defender Kenneth Omeruo, can authoritatively confirm.

Club president Maria Victoria Pavon was hopeful a deal would be struck between both clubs before the AFCON in Egypt to prevent a potential bidding war but it now seems Leganes would have to up their offer for the player.

With the player set to be in hot demand, the Blues are reportedly wanting a fee of around €5 million which represents the player’s value since Omeruo has two years left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge.

Omeruo joined Chelsea for an undisclosed fee in January 2012 and spent the 2018/2019 season with the Los Pepineros where he established himself as a first team regular, featuring in 31 games across all competitions.
