Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo has hailed the impressive display of his teammates after they fought hard to claim 1-0 victory over Burundi to take an early lead in Group B, reports.


Speaking after the game, the CD Leganes of Spain defender, who produced an excellent display at the back, reckoned that their opponents had nothing to lose hence the Eagles had to be careful in their approach to the game.


“We knew it was going to be a difficult game because they had nothing to lose. They locked the middle of the pitch and tried to catch us on the counter.


“I am glad we could come out with the three points. It’s always difficult to start but we are happy with the start and the win,” Omeruo said.


On his overall performance, the Chelsea loanee posited that he now hopes to use his wealth of experience to help the team improve game by game.


“I have been here for a while and I know how it goes. I just want to take every game as it comes and make sure the next one is better than the last,” Omeruo concluded.
