Former Super Eagles skipper, Nwankwo Kanu has urged the team to have faith and replicate what Nigeria did at the 2004 Edition in Tunisia when it knocked out then defending champions Cameroon, AOIFootball.con reports.

Working as the continental ambassador at the tournament, the former Africa Footballer of the Year winner visited the team’s camp on Thursday night to psyche them to victory.

“I believe in the ability of this Eagles team. I know it was sad to lose to Madagascar but I believe you have learnt from it and will ensure you come out flying on Saturday evening.

“We faced them in a similar fashion in 2004 and we all saw the outcome, so for me, if you have the same faith with me when we have a good chance of knocking them out again,” Kanu stated.

The lanky forward was instrumental for Nigeria when they last faced Cameroon in an AFCON match coming off the bench to set up John Utaka with a delightful through the ball with the latter keeping his composure to fire past Kameni to hand Nigeria a valuable 2-1 win.
