It was double celebration for Nigeria on Saturday night as former Africa Footballer of the Year, Kanu Nwankwo got a double dose of victory after inspiring the Super Eagles to tame the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the Alexandria Stadium in Egypt, AOIFootball.con reports.

Both working as an ambassador for CAF at the biannual tournament, the duo could not hide their emotions as they sat beside each other to witness arguably one of the best matches of the tournament.

Kanu was first to smile as the Eagles took the lead via the boot of Odion Ighalo but the smile was soon forgotten as Cameroon were 2-1 up in quick succession with Eto clearly smiling to the break much to the frustration of Kanu who could not hide his displeasure.

Clearly not happy with the Eagles first-half display, Kanu left his VIP seat to hand out strong instructions to one of Rohr’s assistant, urging him to tell the coaches to push the players further up the pitch.

That move did however payoff as further strikes from Ighalo and Iwobi earned Nigeria a 3-2 win much to the frustration of Eto who could not believe his eyes at the end of the whistle.

The win, however, means Kanu has now beaten Samuel Eto twice at the AFCON, first as a player in 2004 and now as an ambassador with the continental body.
