Kano Pillars Technical Adviser, Ibrahim Musa has stated that the Nigeria Professional Football League side is committed to surpassing the record they set ten years ago in the CAF Champions League, reports.
Speaking exclusively to on the state of the team’s preparedness to face Ashante Kotoko FC on Sunday in the first preliminary round of the continent’s elite club championship, Musa said.
“We have pledged to ensure that our performance in this year’s CAF Champions League surpasses the club’s previous records, he said the team have set their face as a flint and would give their best.
“In 2009 the club got to the semifinals but this time, both the players and technical crew have resolved to put in our best, and go beyond that,” he said.
It would be recalled that the 4-0 defeat at the hands of Heartland FC of Owerri signaled Pillars’ exit from the Champions League that year, and Coach Musa insistt that there is zero tolerance for defensive errors in his team this time, stating that a water-tight defence has been part of what makes his preparation solid.
“A major part of our preparation is to ensure that we eliminate every form of errors, especially in the defence.
“We have worked hard enough to make sure we don’t concede goals at all, especially at home,” coach Musa concluded.
The ‘Sai Masu Gida’ side will begin their campaign in the 2019 CAF Champions League on Sunday August 11, against Ashante Kotoko FC in Kano.
