Nigerian international Simy Nwankwo began the new season with Serie B Crotone on a winning start, netting a fantastic curler to help his side down Serie C side Arezzo 4-3 at the Stadio Ezio Scida, AOIFootball.com reports.
The lanky forward who shunned several offers from other European clubs to remain with the Crotone based outfit double his side lead on seven minutes with a masterclass curler after Andrea Barberis had given the host the lead in the opening 40 seconds.
The visitors, however, responded in similar fashion also netting twice in the space of seven minutes to bring the score to 2-2 before Andrea Zini overturned the result as he put Arezzo 3-2 up on 23 minutes.
Defender Vladimir Golemic, however, equalized for the host ten minutes later to make it 3-3 before substitute Zak Rugiero sealed the win 16 minutes from time with a composed finish.
Simy and his teammates will, however, hope for a much improved defensive display ahead of their Serie B opener at home to Cosenza in a fortnight.
