The 2019/2020 German Bundesliga season will officially kickoff with no fewer than five Nigerians expected to grace the field for their respective clubs, reports.

Eagles left-back, Jamilu Collins is among the players hoping to make his first Bundesliga appearance for newly promoted Paderborn.

Taiwo Awoniyi: The on-loan Liverpool forward will be hoping to begin his Mainz 05 career on a high as they kick off their campaign away at Freiburg on matchday one of the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old, who impressed whilst on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron last season will have his eyes set on a starting berth following his bench role in Mainz’s 05 2-0 cup loss to FC Kaiserslautern last weekend.

Jamilu Collins: Having helped his side achieve promotion from the German Bundesliga 2, he will be targeting his first top-flight appearance for the club having come off the bench last week to help them reach the second round of the DFB Pokal.

Paderborn who are making their first return to the top flight since their relegation in the 2014/2015 season will have their hands full as they travel to Bayern Leverkusen hoping to spring a surprise against one of the big boys of the league.

Anthony Ujah: The former Eagles striker is expected to lead the line for Bundesliga newcomers FC Union Berlin when they take to the pitch on Sunday against RB Leipzig who will also be parading Super Eagles hopeful Ademola Lookman.

Having netted thrice in his last two matches the former Mainz 05 forward will be hoping to improve on the 4 league goals he scored last term whilst also hoping his performance at the end of the season will help the Newcomers remain in the league beyond May.

Suleiman Abdullahi: He would be hopeful of a breakthrough 2019/2020 season after helping Union Berlin achieve promotion last season from the Bundesliga 2.

The 22-year-old former Eintracht Braunschweig striker featured 19 times for Union Berlin last season netting twice in the process and will now hope to learn under the experience Anthony Ujah who has seen it all in the Bundesliga.

Ademola Lookman: After completing a sensational 18 million euro move from Everton,  the Nigerian will be fully settled into the Bundesliga after impressing in the second half of last season whilst on loan with the Leipzig based outfit.

The 21-year-old former England junior International scored 5 goals and assisted another 3 in just 11 games to help Leipzig finish 3rd in the Bundesliga last term.

Kingsley Ehizibue: Born in Germany to Nigerian parents, right back Kingsley Ehizibue will certainly be on the radder of Eagles coach Gernot Rohr this season following his transfer from Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle.

The 24-year-old who can play both as a right-back and an attacking midfielder played well over 120 games for Zwolle between 2014 to 2019 before joining Koln on a four-year deal.
