Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen produced another master class performance to help giants Lille return to winning ways as they thrashed visiting Saint-Etienne 3-0 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy to record their second win of the season, reports.

A suspension to right-back Boubakary Soumare forced Lille to shuffle their starting XI with the Nigerian dropping to the bench with former Chelsea forward Loic Remy leading the line for the hosts.

Osimhen, however, made an early appearance to the match as injury to the French striker ensured the Nigerian entered the game in the 19th minute to make his third appearance of the season.

Osimhen made an instant impact as he kept his cool to control a well-placed cross from Domagoj Bradaric on the 37th minute to put Lille ahead, much to the joy of the home fans.

The former Wolfsburg forward then came close to grabbing his second of the game few minutes after the break before french midfielder Jonathan Bamba dusted himself up to make it 2-0 from the spot-kick on 69th minute.

With plenty of strength and tenacity upfront Osimhen deservedly got his brace and 4th of the season as he superbly stretched to control a cut back cross from Zeki Celik before spinning and hitting a low shot which beat the goalkeeper and into the net for 3-0.

The Eagles forward was deservedly named the man of the match as he moved to the summit of the French League-leading goal scorers with 4 goals from 3 games, one ahead of Lyon’s duo of Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele who both have 3 goals.
