Super Eagles hopeful, Chuba Akpom marked his first league start of the season with a fine strike to help stretch PAOK’s unbeaten run to 32 games following their 2-1 win at home to Panionios, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 23-year-old started his first league game of the season with compatriot Anderson Esiti who was recently called up for Nigeria’s clash against Ukraine also in the line up.
But it was Akpom who got the net shaking after 14 minutes when he received the ball just at the edge of the box before fending off his marker and hitting a fantastic low shot beyond the goalkeeper to give PAOK a 1-0 lead.
The visitors however leveled proceedings three minutes before the hour mark through Sotris Tsiloulis before Karol Świderski scored what proved to be the winner 16 minutes from time to seal all three points.
The win puts the defending champions back to the summit of the log with six points from two games.
