Super Falcons Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby has lambasted the team’s lacklustre performance in their 1-0 win over Algeria in the second leg of the 2020 Olympic qualifiers despite advancing 3-0 on aggregate, AOIFootball.com reports.
Dennerby, who spoke after the game at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, stated that the team were too confident after the first leg in Algiers and refused to come to the party in the second leg.
“It was a weak game for us, our passing was very poor, we were too slow and had many touches on the ball which really affected our game. The players did not come with a good attitude to the game, maybe because we won the first leg but hopefully we will do better subsequently.
“But I’m happy we won the game and we did not concede any goal. The result is not what we wanted but we are happy we have progressed through to the next round,” Dennerby said.
A second-half strike from Barcelona’s Asisat Oshoala earned the Super Falcons the win as they progressed 3-0 on aggregate.
