Former Golden Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali has departed the shores of Nigeria to focus on new club Huesca after successfully helping the Dream Team VII reach the Total U-23 Cup of Nations in November, reports.

Having missed the first leg defeat in Ombudsman, the former Arsenal player was at the heart of the team’s midfield as they made a meal of Sudan who found it difficult to cope with the fluidity of the 21-year-old.

Nwakali told shortly before his departure that he will now switch his attention to club football after finally settling down in Spain.

“I will be heading to England before moving to Spain. I want to get my travel documents for Spain there, so hopefully, before next week I should be with the team.

“I know it’s new terrain for me but I’m more than 100% ready to give my best to the club and also ensure we achieve our season’s objectives,” Nwakali said.

The development means the Nigerian will not be available for Huesca’s away clash to Numancia this weekend as they hope to build on their solid start to the season after recording three wins from their opening four outings.
