General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr Sanusi Mohammed has lauded the performance of the Super Eagles after holding world powerhouse Brazil to a 1-1 draw in Singapore last Sunday, AOIFootball.com reports.
The NFF scribe, who spoke to journalists at the Glass House, stated that the current crop of players in the squad have showed hunger and desire and can go on and beat any team in the world right now.
“We give glory to God for the superlative performance of the Super Eagles. I would say that the Brazilians held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw because they had to struggle to come from behind and draw the match.
“For me I was not surprised by the performance of our boys because we have players that are very youthful and are hungry for success. They also have a lot of energy and skills in them and I knew it will pose a great threat to the Brazilians,” Sanusi said.
He further added that the match has done a lot to boost the confidence of the boys whilst also positing that the time could be right for an African country to finally lift the World Cup.
“I believe this match has done a lot for our young team in terms of confidence and moral and as for the doubters i also believe this match has sent a string signal that finally an African country can win the World cup because holding Brazil who have won it 5 times is no easy feat,” He concluded.
With impressive back to back results against Ukraine and Brazil, the Super Eagles next face Neighbours Benin Republic in Benin City next month as they begin preparations for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
