Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has been rewarded for his fine display with Udinese over the weekend after he was named in the Serie A Team of the Week for matchday 8, reports.

The Eagles stand-in captain was a strong force in the heart of Udinese’s defence as they narrowly dispatched Torino 1-0 at the Dacia Arena to record their 3rd win of the season and move up to 10th on the league standings.

Ekong, who kept his 4th clean sheet for the club finished the game with a game rating of 7.8, making 8 clearances, blocked 4 shots, made 1 interception and also made 3 key passes.

He also won 100% of his duels and completed 100% of his dribbles.

The Nigerian lined up at the centre alongside AS Roma Gianluca Mancini with Parma’s Riccardo Gagliolo and Paolo Faragao of Cagliari completing the back four pairings.

Other players on the team of the week include hat-trick hero Andreas Cornelius whose heroics helped Parma to a 5-1 win over Genoa, with Hakan Çalhanoglu and Ciro Immobile also making the cut.
