Nigerian international, David Okereke was the match hero for Club Brugge as his lone strike helped secure a point for the club in their 1-1 draw at home to second placed Standard Liege, reports.


Having stayed our of the starting XI for couple of weeks, the 22-year-old was restored to the starting XI as he partnered Pacy Tau with compatriot Emmanuel Dennis dropping to the bench.


The visitors however struck first after just 5 minutes when Samuel Bastien connected with Maxime Lestienne before the former tucked home to put Standard Liege 1-0 up a lead they held going into the half time break.


Down but not out the host resolved to a double substitution at half time with Elder Balanta and Mbaye Diagne coming on for the duo of Pacy Tau and Mats Rits as they went fo an all out attack in the second half.


The substitution will however go on to yield fruits when Okereke fired home from close range on 47 minutes to draw his side level and record his 5th league goal in 10 appearances.


His goal was enough to see Brugge stretch their unbeating league run to 11 games as they now have 27 points from a possible 33 points this campaign.
