Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu has attributed determination and hard work as reasons he was named in Nigeria’s squad for next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 26-year-old, who was recalled by Head Coach Gernot Rohr after a year’s absence from the team, further vowed to continue to work hard and improve himself on and off the pitch.
“The aim of every footballer is always to represent his or her country and when I heard of my invitation, I was excited because i have put in a whole lot of hard work and determination to get this call up.
“I just have to keep doing my thing on the pitch and if given the chance I will surely give my 100% best to ensure that we begin the qualifiers on a solid note,” Agu said.
The midfielder has been a revelation for Vitoria de Guimaraes since joining from FC Porto, helping the club to an impressive 4th position on the log with 15 points from their opening nine games.
