Captain of Nigeria’s Olympics Eagles, Azubuike Okechukwu has charged the team to go all out and beat Ivory Coast on Saturday in their opening match of the U-23 AFCON, AOIFootball.con reports.
The Istanbul Basaksehir of Turkey midfielder, who will miss the clash due to club engagement, told AOIFootball.com ahead of his side’s Europa League tie away at Wolfsberger, tasked the team to go for maximum three points.
“I’m going to be praying for the lads and then support them in their first game and I know the boys can get a win from the game.
“We just have to want it more than the other teams and we will qualify for the Olympics,” Azubuike added.
Having led the Dream Team VI to a maiden championship four years ago in Senegal, the 22-year-old will now hope to repeat the same feat for the Imama Amapakabo led boys as they view for one of two Olympics tickets in Egypt.
