Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo returned to action for struggling LaLiga side Leganes as they forced table toppers Real Sociedad to a 1-1 draw away at the Anoeta, reports.

Having missed his side’s 2-1 loss at home to Eiberast last weekend, the 26-year-old returned to the staring XI for the eight time this season with compatriot Chidozie made to watch from the bench.

In a game that featured first from the top and first from bottom, the hosts duly dominated the first half proceedings with Leganes made to defend in large numbers as they kept the Sociedad forward line at bay.

Leganes’ resolve was however broken just after the hour mark when winger Adnan Januzaj played Mikel Merino through on goal with the midfielder making to mistake to convert for 1-0.

With just one win in their opening 12 league games, Leganes somehow found their way back into the tie when when striker Youssef En-Nesyri made it 1-1 much to the joy of the traveling fans.

Omeruo then saw yellow for a rash challenge in the closing minutes before Leganes were reduced to 10 men after Kevin Rodriquez picked up his second booking but it was the visitors who held on for a positive away point.

Omeruo will now shift his attention to Nigeria’s double header AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho after a game rating of 6.9, making 5 clearances, 4 interceptions, 2 key blocked shots and also completed 67% of his passes.
