The camp of the Olympic Eagles has been boosted by the imminent arrival of team captain Azubuike Okechukwu in time for Tuesday’s make or mar clash against the U-23 side of Zambia in Cairo, can authoritatively confirm.


The 22-year-old missed the team’s narrow 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast on Saturday due to club engagement but however confirmed he will now arrive in the Egyptian capital in time for the team’s must-win clash against the Copper Bullets.


The midfielder was instrumental for Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday as he featured in the entire match duration of their 2-1 win over Ankaraguch with the victory taking Istanbul to 5th on the log table with 19 points.


His availability will come as a massive boost for head coach Imama Amapakabo who will now hope the midfielder’s presence will further lift the morale of the players as they also await the arrival of striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Germany.


Nigeria currently sits bottom of Group B with zero points and must now avoid defeat on Tuesday evening to boost their chances of picking one of the tickets to represent Africa at next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
