Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his readiness to help Nigeria begin their 2021 AFCON qualifiers on a bright note ahead of their doubleheader clashes against Benin Republic and Lesotho, respectively, AOIFootball.com reports.
Chukwueze, who came on as a substitute in Villarreal’s 3-1 loss away to RCD Mallorca on Sunday, further stressed the need for the Eagles to respect their opponents despite being favourites.
“Obviously the goal is to begin the qualifiers on a good note, we have a very tough game on Wednesday against Benin and I believe we are ready as a team to make the nation very proud in Uyo.
“We saw their exploits at the AFCON so for us there won’t be pushovers. We want to begin on a winning note and hopefully take the confidence into our second game in Lesotho,” Chukwueze added.
The 20-year-old will, however, be gunning for his 10th cap on Wednesday when the Eagles host the Squirrels of Benin at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
