Former Super Eagles winger, Mutiu Adepoju has hailed Coach Gernot Rohr for guiding his lads to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Benin Republic to begin the AFCON qualifiers on a winning note, AOIFootball.conm reports.

The former Real Sociedad winger also charged the boys to use the win as a perfect momentum going into their second game away at Lesotho on Sunday.

“A very positive start for the Super Eagles. Congrats to Gernot Rohr and his boys. Benin down, Lesotho’s next,” Adepoju posted after the encounter in Uyo.

Goals in either half from striker Victor Osimhen and winger Samuel Kalu proved the difference for the Eagles in Uyo as they recovered from an early setback to take all three points and top Group L.

The Eagles next travel to Maseru to take on Lesotho who held host Sierra Leone to a 1-1 draw away from home on matchday 1 of the qualifiers.
