Super Eagles left-back, Jamilu Collins has hailed the level of character and determination in the current squad, following their winning start to the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Paderborn of Germany left-back, who stated that the team has improved since the last Nations Cup in Egypt, said they will now do well to ensure they qualify in time for the next Nations Cup in Cameroon.
“It is very important to start the qualifiers with a win which we did against Benin Republic. They took us by surprise in the opening minutes of the game but we showed character and came back to seal all three points.
“Now we have to build on it and continue to work to the coaches instructions because that gave us a good AFCON in Egypt and also ensure we do well not just in the national team but also in our club sides,” Collins said.
With just 11 caps to his name, the former Abuja football college star will be gunning for his 12th cap later Sunday when Nigeria squares up against Lesotho in Maseru on match day two of the qualifier
