Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen was again the match hero for Champions League chasers Lille as they moved up 3rd on the log following a 1-0 win over Stade Brestois 29, reports.

Having helped set up the winning goal midweek, the 20-year-old started his 14th league game of the campaign as the hosts went in search of their third consecutive win after slim wins against Dijon and Lyon.

The Nigerian however needed just 16 minutes to continue his Stade Pierre-Mauroy heroics as he reacted quickest to turn home a Jonathan Ikone cross to hand his side the lead which they held going into the half time break.

The hosts did continue to push for a second goal and were awarded a golden chance to make it 2-0 deep into stoppage time in the second half but midfielder Jonathan Bamba saw his spot kick saved.

Osimhen’s 9th league goal of the campaign now puts him just one goal behind the duo of Wissam Ben Yedder and Moussa Dembele in the race for Ligue 1 top goal scorer.
