Nigerian international, Simy Nwankwo signed off the year on a good note with Serie B side Crotone as he scored his 9th league goal in their impressive 3-0 win over Trapani to remain within touching distance of automatic promotion, reports.

Having reached 100 caps for the Crotone based club last week against Frosinone, the 27-year-old kept his place in the starting XI for the 18th time this campaign as he hoped to end his 6 games scoreless run.

The host however failed to make the most of their possession count as they went into the break goalless before Junior Messias broke the deadlock 3 minutes after the break when he converted from a Giovanni Crociata pass.

Substitute Antonio Mazzotta then doubled Crotone lead on 78 minutes before Simy ensured it was a perfect end to the year for the hone fans when he converted from 12 yards on 83 minutes to move them up to 3rd on the log standings.

The Nigerian finished the game with a rating of 7.3, completing 88% of his passes, making 2 key passes and also had one goal bound effort chopped off.
