Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has cautioned media outlets who propagate fake news in Nigeria for selfish gains to desist from misleading the public, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former Lazio of Italy midfielder, who was reacting to media reports that he has been sacked by Turkish club Trabzonspor, stated that such news will only bring the country to disrepute as he remains determined to help the club reach their goal at the end of the current season.
“Well, I know my country too well with all the fake news. I already resumed with the club ahead of the second period. I don’t have much to say to the writer but God will help him. Seriously praying for them,” Onazi echoed.
On his side’s chances of lifting the league title, Onazi added that “this is the time to concentrate and take every point if we want to win the title and we have all it takes to do that,” he stated.
Having just returned from a lengthy spell on the touchlines, the 27-year-old will now hope to join forces with former Eagles skipper Mikel Obi in the heart of the midfield as they look to close in on league leaders Sivasspor.
