At a ripe football age of 32, former Chelsea and Tianjin Teda midfield general, Mikel John Obi was one of the leading lights at the end of the first half of the Turkish Super Big season for his club Trabzonspor despite picking up form very late, AOIFootball.com reports.
Whoscored.com stats clearly showed the former Super Eagles captain is one the top passers of the ball in the league with a record percentage of 93.7%, while average pass per game is 53.5% having played 952 minutes before the break.
Mikel also averaged 2.1 tackles and made 1.4 interceptions per game. His rating at the end of the first half of the Turkish Super Lig season was pegged at 6.89.
Mikel’s numbers in the colours of Unal Karaman’s squad in recent times is not bad as he featured 16 times in all competitions for the Karadeniz Fırtınası this season so far.
The former Middlesbrough of England player is however with the team at their Antalya camp and is prepped up for a better second half of the Turkish Super Lig.
The team plays Denizlispor later on Thursday night in the first leg of their round of 16 Cup tie.
