Former NPFL goal king, Anthony Okpotu has described the recent run of away wins in the Nigerian Professional Football League as a welcomed development, whilst praising the players for believing in their abilities to win even when playing away from home, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former Lobi Stars forward, who was reacting to impressive away wins on match day 15 of the league which produced four victories on the road, further urged the fans to shun intimidation against visiting teams regardless of the outcome of the match.
“Thank God the we can’t win away syndrome in Nigerian League has left the players. It’s now with the fans.
“If you play well as a team, utilize your chances and avoid team and individual mistakes you’ll definitely win games home and away,” Okpotu twitted.
Now playing his football in Tunisia with US Monastir, the 25-year-old has been in fantastic form this campaign with his 7 league goals helping his side stay unbeaten in this season as they sit second, level on points with leaders Esperance.
Wins for Nasarawa United, Heartland, Kwara United and Enugu Rangers brought the total number of wins on the road in the league this campaign to 21, an average of 1.4 per game week as there were also impressive draws for Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists with only 4 home wins recorded.
