Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen came off the bench to inspire Lille to the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France following their 2-0 triumph away at ESM de Gonfreville, reports.

Just like in the previous round, the Eagles forward was named among the substitutes with former Chelsea striker Loic Remy given the nod to lead the line for the visitors who were hoping to avoid an embarrassing defeat to the lower division side.

The Nigerian’s absence was however felt as Lille failed to break the deadlock in the first half before Coach Christophe Galtier turned to him on the hour mark in place of Luiz Araujo.

His substitution would, however, go on to spur Lille as Remy put them ahead seven minutes later for 1-0 before Osimhen ensured the victory was sealed when he stylishly chipped over the goalkeeper deep into stoppage time to complete a 2-0 win.

The strike now takes the 21-year-old’s goals tally to 15 in all competitions this term, with the striker well on course to surpass the 19 he scored last season while on loan at Belgian club Sporting Charleroi.
