Plateau United FC of Jos new recruit, Uche Onwuasonya was on song once again as his side pummeled relegation strugglers, Adamawa United FC 5-0 in a Match Day 16 encounter of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, AOIFootball.com reports.
The match which saw the Tin City boys racing into an early lead, was relatively a one-sided affair, as the Abdu Maikaba tutored side got their first goal in as early as the 18th, netting two more goals before the end of the first half.
The victory takes the 2017 NPFL Champions to the summit of the table on goals difference after Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi failed to record a win against Dakkada Int’l FC of Uyo.
The former Gombe United and Kwara United FC attacking midfielder registered his goal in the 65th minute, from close range after the away side’s goalkeeper, Pwadadi, parried off Ibrahim Mustapha’s effort.
In an exclusive post-match reaction to AOIFootball.com, Onwuasoanya said, “I’m happy to be among the scorers in today’s game, knowing that the victory has taken us back to the top of the table.
“We will not relent in our bid to fight for the league title, even though the race is still very open.
“We have all it takes to be crowned NPFL Champions, and we will give it our best shot,” he said.
