Super Eagles’ sensation, Victor Osimhen continued his impressive form in front of goal for Champions League chasers Lille as they claimed a 2-0 win away at 3rd place Rennes s to boost their chances of a top 3 finish, AOIFootball.com reports.
In a match that saw 13th go up against 4th on the log, the visitors were hoping to stretch their winning run to 3 games with Osimhen continuing his new partnership with Loic Remy in the heart of Lille attack.
The Nigerian, however, broke the deadlock against the run of play in the 14th minute when a long clearance from Jonathan Bamba put him one on one with the goalkeeper before he expertly lobbed the ball for 1-0 as he ran down the flag to celebrate in an Ighalo- like fashion.
Renato Sanches then ensured the points were safe 15 minutes from time when he scored to make it 2-0 before Osimhen was then replaced five minutes later for Nico Gaitan with a suspected knock as the visitors ran out with all 3 points.
The win leaves on still on 4th position but they move level on points with Rennes who have played a game less but however stay 6 points behind second-placed Marseille who have 46 points.
