Nigerian international, Simy Nwankwo was the hero for promotion chasers Crotone as he scored the winning goal in their 1-0 win over Cremonese to brighten their chances of sealing an automatic ticket back to the Elite League, reports.

Without a win and goal in his last two league appearances, the 27-year-old started his 21st league match of the campaign with the host hoping to halt their two games losing streak against a team lacking in confidence after failing to win any of their last 7 games.

But despite holding 72% of possession in the first 45 minutes, the hosts failed to find the breakthrough as their opponents sat pretty deep in defense with both teams going into the break goalless.

Simy however broke the deadlock three minutes from full time when he made the most of an assist from Mattia Mustacchio to fire home the game’s only goal, thus grabbing his 10th league goal of the campaign.
