Simy's 14 goals helped to keep Crotone in the Serie B




Nigerian striker Simy Nwankwo continued his push to earn a Super Eagles recall after he scored his 11th league goal of the campaign to help promotion chasers Crotone to a comprehensive 4-1 win over Pescara at the Stadio Ezio Scida, reports.


The 27-year-old opened the floodgate of goals when he converted from a Samuel Armenteros pass in the 9th minute to put Crotone 1-0 up before the made good use of their numerical advantage to strike twice again before half time to make it 3-0.


Ahmed Bamali then made it 4-0 on 52 minutes before the visitors grabbed a late consolation 15 minutes from time as the host moved up to 4th position 3 points behind second-place Frosinone in their quest for automatic promotion.


Simy, however, finished the game with a rating of 7.3 as he now sits 3rd on the scorers’ chart with 11 goals, 6 behind Perugia’s Pietro Iemmello with 13 games left in the campaign.
