Former Super Eagles captain, Mikel John Obi picked up two yellow cards for Turkish side Trabzonspor as they returned to the summit of the league following their 5-2 trashing of Caykur Rizespor, with Anthony Nwakaeme coming off the bench to find the net, reports.

In a game that had three Nigerians from both teams, Mikel started his 16th league game of the campaign whilst Nwakeame was named on the bench with former Olympic Eagles striker Aminu Umar also starting for the visitors.

Unbeaten since December of last year, the hosts fell to a shock 1-0 half time lead before Nwakeame was sent on at half time in a bid to overturn the result in favour of Trabzonspor.

His introduction coincidentally let to the withdrawal of another Nigerian as Aminu Umar left the pitch after the hour mark through injury with Trabzonspor going on to find the equalizer almost immediately as Manuel Da Costa made it 1-1.

Caleb Ekuban then made it 2-1 on 71 minutes with Jose Sosa putting them 3-1 up from the spot before Mikel was cautioned moments later after arguing with the center referee.

Nwakaeme then made it 4-1 with a curling shot from the edge of the box before Mikel got his marching orders after appearing to handle the ball in the box as the hosts were given a slim hope from the penalty spot.

Milan Skoda stepped up and converted for 4-2 before Nwakaeme then sealed the huge win as he set up Badou Ndiaye deep into injury time for 5-2.

The win now sees Trabzonspor stretch their unbeaten run to 14 games and they now sit 2 points clear at the top of the table with 48 points from 23 games.
