It was a fierce battle in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon as two of Nigeria’s finest attackers went head to head for the first time this season when Nantes welcomed Lille to the Stade de la Beaujoire, reports.

Having announced himself to the league in the reverse fixture last August where he scored both goals in the win, striker Victor Osimhen led the line for the visitors alongside Loic Remy whilst Moses Simon led the line for Nantes who were hoping to close the gap on 5th place Montpellier.

Both teams, however, failed to find the net in a tension soaked first 45 minutes before the visitors took the lead in the second period when Benjamin Andre finished off a Renato Sanches assist to seal all 3 points.

Osimhen, however, stood out among the two Eagles on parade as he finished with a rating of 7.1 whilst Simon who has been by far Nantes’ player of the season, finished with a rating of 6.4.

Similarly at the Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, winger Samuel Kalu was on for 73 minutes as his side failed to hold on to their lead to drew 1-1 at home to OGC Nice.

Nicolas de Preville put Bordeaux ahead in the first half before Adam Ounas leveled scores after the break with Kalu making way for fellow Nigerian Josh Maja who also featured in the draw.

The point, however, leaves Bordeaux on the 12th position on the log as they now switch their attention to a top-half finish.
