Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong has named former Inter Millan of Italy defender Taribo West in his all-time Eagles five-a-side squad whilst also including four former National team captains, reports.

The Udinese of Italy defender, who was live on Instagram page with the media handlers of the Super Egles, stated that it was a tough decision to name the 5 players whilst also backing Daniel Amokachi who named Mikel Obi as the country’s greatest footballer ever.

“I will go with Vincent Enyeama in goal because he was magnificent during his time with the team. We also had Carl Ikeme but Vincent will be my choice.

“In the defense, I will go with Taribo West and Joseph Yobo. In the midfield, I will pick Mikel who was very influential with the National team and then Okocha who I watched whilst growing up. I will also go with Kanu up front to complete the team,” Ekong added.

Ekong, who also revealed that he also feels Mikel Obi is the country’s greatest player, for now, stated that the pair of Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze is the country’s best young prospects and would definitely go on to play key parts in the national team.

“Definitely Osimhen and Chukwueze, they are playing some of the best football of their careers and have been good since coming into the team. They also bond well having played together at youth level so hopefully, they will go on to become world stars,” Ekong concluded.

The 26-year-old has been a key figure for the Super Eagles since making his debut against Chad in 2015, winning an AFCON bronze medal whilst also helping the Olympic Eagles to a Bronze medal finish at the Rio 2016 Olympics where he featured in all 6 games.
