The German Bundesliga continued to lead the way for a gradual return to football action as it entered its matchday 28-midweek action on Wednesday night with the duo of Taiwo Awoniyi and Jamilu Collins helping their clubs to valuable away points, reports.

Ademola Lookman: The former Everton winger Ademola Lookman started from the bench for the 3rd successive game for league chasers RB Leipzig as they fell 9 points behind Bayern Munich following a 2-2 draw at home to Hertha Berlin.

The 22-year-old Eagles hopeful replaced Dani Olmo just before the hour mark with the scores level at 1-1 before Patrick Schick put the host back in from 10 minutes later to momentarily send them level on points with second-placed Dortmund.

They were however denied all 3 points when January acquisition Krzysztof Piatek converted from the spot two minute from time to steal a point for the host with Leipzig now extending their unbeaten run to 9 games.

Kingsley Ehizibue: The new Eagles invitee had to play the role of the sacrificial lamb for visitors FC Koln as they slumped to their 14th loss of the season following a 3-1 defeat away at Hoffenheim

With the host leading by a lone goal, Koln was reduced to 10 men just before the half-hour mark when Sebastian Bornauw was given his marching orders with Ehizibue making way afterwards for Jorge Mere after just 32 minute of action.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Anthony Ujah: Former Golden Eaglet attacker Taiwo Awoniyi was rewarded with just his second league start of the campaign for visiting Mainz 05 as they traveled to the An der Alten Forsterei in Berlin to take on Union Berlin who also named Anthony Ujah among the substitutes.

Riddle Baku put the visitors ahead after just 13 minutes before a well-taken striker from Marcus Ingvarsten ensured both teams went into the break level at 1-1.

Awoniyi however made way for Karim Onisiwo three minute after the hour mark as his side failed to make good use of their numerical advantage with both sides settling for a share of the point.

The Nigerian did give a good account on the night finishing with a game rating of 6.4, completing 60% of his passes, creating one big scoring opportunity, and also adding his quota to the defense line.

Jamilu Collins, Felix Uduokhia, and Noah Bazee: Super Eagles left-back Jamilu Collins was on from start to finish for relegation battlers Paderborn as they earned an impressive point away at Augsburg who had former Germany youth captain Felix Uduokhia to thank for keeping the Paderborn attackers at bay.

Collins once again showed his class on the night with a rating of 7.0, making 3 key interceptions, 1 clearance and tackle, winning 3 duels, and also completing 82% of his passes.

There was also action for former Eagles trainee Noah Bazee who failed to add to the goal he scored last weekend after coming on as a second-half substitute for the hosts.
