Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon have been rewarded for their hard work in the just-concluded French Ligue 1 season after they both made the nominees for the 2019/2020 Marc-Vivien Foe awards, AOIFootball.com reports.
The awards, which is in honor of late Cameroon midfielder Foe who passed on in 2003, celebrate the exploits of African players in the French League every season.
The Eagles duo will however have their hands full as they are up against the Senegalese quartet of Idrissa Gueye, Habib Diallo, Edouard Mendy, and Mbaye Niang, with Algeria’s Islam Slimani and teammate Andy Delort among the other nominees.
Having finished as Africa’s top scorer in Ligue 1 with 13 goals, young striker Victor Osimhen will be the favorite to clinch the award but will face stiff competition from Metz forward Habib Diallo who also scored 12 goals and PSG’s Idrissa Gueye.
Former Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama remains the first and only Nigerian to clinch the award after his success in the 2013-2014 season where he set a club record of 11 consecutive clean sheets.
