Super Eagles and CD Leganes of Spain hard-fighting defender, Chigozie Awaziem has regretted his team’s weekend loss to Real Valladolid, reports.

The team had high hopes before the game and were optimistic they will come out with a win at home but that quickly vanished as they conceded an early goal in the 2nd minute of the encounter when Unal gave the visitors the lead.

Leganes enjoyed more of the possession and should have leveled scores but it was the visitors again that doubled their lead in the second half with Ruben Alcaraz scoring.

Leganes, which also had Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo on duty, however, scored a consolation in the 84th minute via a penalty from Oscar Amaiz.

Speaking after the game to from his base in Spain, Awaziem posited that it was a game they needed to win and it is painful they had to lose in this manner.

“I really feel sad after this loss. We gave everything to win this game but it was not to be. But we have to pick up from our loss and concentrate on the next game,” the former FC Nantes defender stated.

Leganes will continue their battle against relegation when they face table-toppers FC Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.
